FATAL CRASH ON HIGHWAY 3 – A Grapeview man died Sunday night in a single vehicle crash on Highway 3 south Allyn. According to the State Patrol, 43-year-old Edward L. Koller was southbound on SR-3 in a 1993 Chrysler LaBaron about 8:30pm. Near the intersection with Grapeview Loop Road North, the Chrysler crossed the northbound lane and left the roadway to the left, coming to rest on the northbound embankment about 20 feet from the highway. BRUSH FIRE IN DAYTON AREA – Fire crews remain on the scene of a brush fire in the Dayton area. According to the State Department of Natural Resources, the fire on Martin Road near Mill Five is contained and about 17 acres in size. Just about all fire departments in Mason County and the DNR responded to the blaze that was reported about 7:30 Tuesday night. The cause of the fire on Green Diamond Resource Company land is under investigation. MASON PUD 3 PIONEER SUBSTATION DE-ENERGIZED, POWER QUICKLY RESTORED – Mason County PUD No. 3 acted quickly to restore electricity to customers served by the Pioneer substation after a circuit switcher at the facility opened this morning. CHELAN COUNTY PUD RATES GOING UP – Chelan County PUD commissioners Monday approved a five percent increase for electric rates, a nine percent increase in water and sewer rates and increased the wholesale fiber-optic rates charged to service providers by two percent. The increases take effect January first of next year, and will be considered annually as part of the PUD budget. MASON PUD 3 PIONEER SUBSTATION DE-ENERGIZED, POWER QUICKLY RESTORED – Mason County PUD No. 3 acted quickly to restore electricity to customers served by the Pioneer substation after a circuit switcher at the facility opened this morning. Approximately 5,800 customers were affected by the outage which occurred at about 10:00 a.m. Power was restored within 40 minutes. PUD 3 personnel are investigating the cause.
CHELAN COUNTY PUD RATES GOING UP – Chelan County PUD commissioners Monday approved a five percent increase for electric rates, a nine percent increase in water and sewer rates and increased the wholesale fiber-optic rates charged to service providers by two percent. The increases take effect January first of next year, and will be considered annually as part of the PUD budget. For the average residential PUD power customer, the increase means their electric bill will go up by three dollars a month. (KPQ Radio, Wenatchee)
