WORD OF THE DAY

Saurian • \SOAR-ee-un\ • noun – Any of a suborder (Sauria) of reptiles including the lizards and in older classifications the crocodiles and various extinct forms (as the dinosaurs and ichthyosaurs) that resemble lizards.

Bradley dreaded his weekly encounters with his ponderous, slow-talking supervisor. As he stalked into the boss’s lair, he always had an impression of a huge, saurian beast occupying the creaking, leather chair behind the fortress-like oak desk. Brad often wondered what would happen if he tossed a chicken carcass into the room before entering. Would it be gone when he took his seat, the poultry juices running down the chin of his mentor?
