WORD OF THE DAY
Epistolary • \ih-PIST-uh-lair-ee\ • Adjective - 1:
of, relating to, or suitable to a letter 2: contained in or carried on by
letters 3: written in the form of a series of letters.
Conundrum of the day. If an epistolary
relationship is considered one carried on by letters, can it also be considered
to one carried on by email or text messages. And because of the transitory nature
of electronic communications, can it be further considered that such
communications are the one-night stands of such a relationship. Just thinking
(or maybe not thinking.)

LINKS & PAYWALL ADVISORY
All
the links in today’s news digest lead to current stories. Please note that some
media organizations update their web sites regularly, which may result in
broken links in the future.
Note
that as some newspapers migrate to a “paywall” system of access, some articles
may not be available without forking over some cold hard credit card cash.
However, some sites will allow a certain number of story accesses per month
before holding out their hand. Sorry if this is an inconvenience.
