Panache
• \puh-NAWSH\ • Noun - 1: an ornamental tuft (as of feathers) especially on a
helmet 2: dash or flamboyance in style & action: verve
The
atmospheric scientist loved his work. Field trips to the eastern plains of
Oregon to proclaim the dangers of the looming stacks of a coal-fired power
plant; his espousing the dangers of particulates emitted from wood-burning
power plants; all delivered with a soft, whispering voice that made his
acolytes wonder why ANYONE would dare use such technologies. As an extra
special touch of panache, the erstwhile professor would end each semester with
a salmon barbeque feast served by his very own hands. Hands blackened and
anointed by the billowing, greasy charcoal emissions from his $500 Char Griller
Trio - Gas/Charcoal Grill and Smoker. Yum!

LINKS & PAYWALL ADVISORY
All
the links in today’s news digest lead to current stories. Please note that some
media organizations update their web sites regularly, which may result in
broken links in the future.
Note
that as some newspapers migrate to a “paywall” system of access, some articles
may not be available without forking over some cold hard credit card cash.
However, some sites will allow a certain number of story accesses per month
before holding out their hand. Sorry if this is an inconvenience.
