Even as hydropower interests and environmentalists are brawling over the fate of four dams along the Columbia River system, the opposing parties last fall found common ground on the goals of removing the dams that are no longer economical while improving the output and safety of those that remain. Now, 40 Democrats are asking Biden to include funding for rehabilitation, retrofit, and removal as part of federal infrastructure legislation.
