WORD OF THE DAY

Epithet • \EPP-uh-teth\ • Noun - 1: a characterizing word or phrase accompanying or occurring in place of the name of a person or thing 2: a disparaging or abusive word or phrase 3: the part of a taxonomic name identifying a subordinate unit within a genus

Epithets zinged across the conference room like nuclear missiles, obscene gerunds dropping like bowling balls, misnomers crashing like broken glass (similes succeeding as well as lead balloons). And that was just the discussion over the consent agenda at the local council meeting in the small, normally serene northwest community.
