In the absence of his brain, which was on vacation for tax purposes after a trying month of “Scrabble” tournaments, Billy’s ratiocination was on the fritz. Even simple questions from his wife, such as “did you put your shoes on today,” were met with sullen, monosyllabic grunts. (By the way, Bill was not wearing shoes, socks…or pants.)
