WORD OF THE DAY

Stygian • \STIJ-ee-un\ • adjective (Usage: often capitalized) 1: of or relating to the river Styx 2: extremely dark, gloomy, or forbidding

Donetello awoke from his fitful slumber; confused, disoriented. The stygian gloom; the shuddering movement of his seat. All were swept away when he removed the isolating eyeshades from his face. His nightmare of a flight to nowhere was replaced with the nightmare of a flight packed with screaming and fussy children on their way to Disneyland.

Energy News Digest for June 26, 2017 – Hot Shots Edition

The News Digest will go under the knife Wednesday, followed by a week of TV binge-watching, hobbling to the comfort station, and wondering what’s edible in the house.

You may see some feeble new notes on the Energy News Digest Facebook Page during that time.

WORD OF THE DAY

Simpatico • \simm-PAWT-ih-coe\ • Adjective - 1: Agreeable, likable 2: being on the same wavelength: congenial, sympathetic.

David was perplexed. His interview with the new division supervisor had gone horribly wrong from the beginning. Dave’s careless comment about the supervisor’s light up bow-tie was taken as an insult; on par with a beer belch in church. Regardless of his fashion sense, the interviewer threw Dave into a tailspin by admitting to simpatico for a common interest: collecting campaign buttons for failed presidential candidates…generally those of libertarians…and specifically those of the 1972 slate of John Hospers & Theodora Nathan.
