WORD OF THE DAY

Uncanny • \un-KANN-nee\ • Adjective - 1a: seeming to have a supernatural character or origin: eerie, mysterious b: being beyond what is normal or expected: suggesting superhuman or supernatural powers 2: chiefly Scottish: severe, punishing

An eerie, uncanny feeling of dread came over Alfred as the cobweb encrusted door slowly opened, its hinges protesting like enraged banshees. He knew that entering the ancient fruit cellar could be his last act on this plane of existence, but the siren’s song of canned peaches, preserved in 1910, was too strong. “Food poisoning be damned,” he muttered to himself.
