WORD OF THE DAY
Agonistic
• \ag-uh-NISS-tick\ • Adjective - 1: argumentative 2: striving for effect:
strained
3:
of, relating to, or being aggressive or defensive social interaction between
individuals usually of the same species
It
was popcorn day in North Loup, Nebraska District Court. Pre-trial hearings were
underway in the Dodder-Bangle trespassing trial, & the two attorneys – strutting
to & fro like banty roosters before the distracted judge, unaware of their diminutive
size & worth – made their incremental challenges over the rules of
evidence. The attraction wasn't so much the agnostic legal show; it was the
most excellent popcorn, due to the fact that North Loup is one of the six
self-proclaimed “popcorn capitols of the world.”

LINKS & PAYWALL ADVISORY
All
the links in today’s news digest lead to current stories. Please note that some
media organizations update their web sites regularly, which may result in
broken links in the future.
Note
that as some newspapers migrate to a “paywall” system of access, some articles
may not be available without forking over some cold hard credit card cash.
However, some sites will allow a certain number of story accesses per month
before holding out their hand. Sorry if this is an inconvenience.
